We are very excited in working with students to provide as many educational opportunities throughout the school year as possible. Improving overall grade performance and increasing student retention rates for economically disadvantaged students in Central Texas schools is at the heart of the Neighborhood Longhorns Program (NLP) in the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement at The University of Texas at Austin.

Students may participate in the Neighborhood Longhorns Program from 2nd – 8th grade. Students who leave Langford can still participate by contacting Mrs. Meza.

The Neighborhood Longhorns Program provides incentives for student academic achievements throughout the entire school year. Students will be required to improve their overall reading level.

Students who meet or surpass all the requirements for the entire school year and have excellent attendance (no more than 6 absences all year) will be eligible to earn a $100.00 scholarship award:

All scholarship funds earned through the program will be held in an account set-up specifically for Neighborhood Longhorn Program scholarship winners at the University of Texas at Austin. When the Neighborhood Longhorns Program participant graduates from high school and attends a college, trade, technical school or university, they can receive their funds directly from The Neighborhood Longhorn Program. If the student attends The University of Texas at Austin, earned funds will be matched.

If you would like for your child to participate in the NLP program, please click on the links below to watch the NLP video and fill out and submit the membership form.
