Hello Langford Families! I hope you and your family are doing well during these difficult times. I am both excited and delighted to be serving as your child’s principal. This will be my first year as principal of Jane C. Langford Elementary. I begin by offering thanks to the students, staff, parents and community members who have helped us throughout these uncertain times. While certainly not without our bumps, frustrations, and tears- overall I am proud of the way all us continue to respond to this crisis.
The Langford staff is so excited that your child will be attending Langford this school year! The first day of instruction will be September 8, 2020. Langford Elementary will provide remote learning the first four weeks of school from September 8, through October 2, 2020. If your child does not have access to technology (ipads, laptops, and internet) necessary for remote learning, contact the campus to request it. On October 5, we will begin to transition slowly into the on-campus instruction model. Of course, the transition is dependent on the latest recommendations from federal, state and local guidelines. Families wishing to remain learning at home may do so.
While I am excited to begin the school year, I also understand many, including myself, are concerned and anxious about what this school year will bring with the many changes that are happening due to COVID-19. This year presents unique opportunities and challenges for us all. Langford staff is committed to making the best of the situation and ensuring all students at Langford are provided with the best education possible. My top priority while we work together is the health and safety of our students, faculty/staff and parents.
Although students will not be on campus while receiving virtual instruction, we understand the importance of having a nutritious meal. AISD Food Services will be providing lunch for students during the time students receive virtual instruction. Beginning on August 18, 2020 from 10:30 am -12:30 pm, parents will be able to pick up curbside breakfast and lunch for their child Mondays through Fridays at Langford Elementary.
To provide clarity and respond to uncertainty, Langford will share our “Reopening Plan” on August 24, 2020. This document will includes two parts:
- Remote & On-Campus Learning
- Return to School Protocols
The Reopening Plan represents our most current thinking and is still a work in progress. We have solicited feedback from the Langford Safety Committee and AISD District Division of Operations.
In conclusion, we thank you for your willingness to follow the procedures and expectations during these times. As we begin the school year, I have challenged and encouraged the Langford Staff to “Rise to the Challenge”. It is paramount that WE work and face these challenges together. Thank you for your flexibility as we navigate new safety protocols. Please know that this re-opening plan is in draft form and may change slightly. We look forward to having a great school year and do not forget it is GREAT to be a Langford Leopard!

¡Hola familias de Langford! Espero que usted y su familia estén bien durante estos tiempos difíciles. Estoy emocionado y encantado de ser el director de su hijo. Este será mi primer año como directora de la Primaria Jane C. Langford. Comienzo dando las gracias a los estudiantes, el personal, los padres y los miembros de la comunidad que nos han ayudado durante estos tiempos de incertidumbre. Aunque ciertamente no sin nuestros baches, frustraciones y lágrimas, en general estoy orgulloso de la forma en que todos seguimos respondiendo a esta crisis.
¡El personal de Langford está muy emocionado de que su hijo asistirá a Langford este año escolar! El primer día de instrucción será el 8 de septiembre de 2020. Mi principal prioridad mientras trabajamos juntos es la salud y la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes, profesores / personal y padres.
Aunque los estudiantes no estarán en el campus mientras reciben instrucción virtual, entendemos la importancia de tener una comida nutritiva. Los Servicios de Alimentos de AISD proporcionarán almuerzo a los estudiantes durante el tiempo que los estudiantes reciban instrucción virtual.
